    This course consists of 4 modules outlined below:

    Module 1: California ABC Seller-Server Training Overview
    After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

    • Correctly define terms relating to the sale or serving of alcohol in the state of California.
    • Describe the purpose, goals, and rules for seller-server training and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
    • State the intent of California laws relating to alcohol sales to minors, intoxicated persons, and Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

    Module 2: Minors and Alcohol Sales 
    After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

    • Determine whether a sale of alcohol is legal or illegal with regards to a minor in any given situation.
    • Use observations to detect when a minor is attempting to purchase alcohol.
    • Correctly identify whether an ID is valid and proper for purposes of establishing age, and
    • Determine appropriate intervention techniques with regards to a minor attempting to purchase alcohol in a variety of situations.

    Module 3: Intoxicated People and Alcohol Sales
    After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

    • Describe in what instances a seller-server might be held responsible for the acts of their customers (Dram Shop Liability).
    • Determine whether a sale of alcohol is legal or illegal with regards to an intoxicated person in a variety of different situations.
    • Define blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and list factors that affect BAC in individuals.
    • Use observations to detect if a person is intoxicated.
    • Apply appropriate intervention techniques for preventing sales to  intoxicated persons in a variety of circumstances.

    Module 4: Other Laws, Rules & Regulations
    After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

    • Correctly describe the consequences of Driving Under the Influence of alcohol.
    • Determine the age requirement for working in an environment that serves alcohol.
    • Describe circumstances that could lead an establishment to be considered a Disorderly House.
